A New Way 2 401k

This is not your Father’s work place

There is a revolution happening in the work place all over the country. It isn’t just Google and Facebook that are changing the way we experience the 9 to 5. Small business is learning that happy employees lead to happy clients and a more successful business.

Company Culture is the hottest topic in business today for a reason, we have finally figured that there may be a better way. Personally, I am very proud of the history of my company. Founded by my father in 1975, many of the strengths that Plan Design Consultants has as a company come from everything we have learned over the past 4 decades. However, our office space, company culture and work life looks very different today than it did even 7 or 8 years ago.

The high walled cubicles have been replaced with an open floor plan that promotes teamwork, collaboration and friendship. Heck, we also discovered that we have some wonderful windows all along the south wall and it’s pretty nice now for every one to enjoy some great natural light throughout the day.
The high levels of stress and hierarchy of management/bosses have been replaced with an Esprit De Corps mentality. We work together with no one PDCer being more important than another.
No more casual Fridays or company dress code. Wear what you want.
The drab and boring white walls have been replaced with bright PDC orange.
Gone is my fancy pants, CEO corner office, it has been replaced with a small desk out in the middle of the rest of the team. Did I mention that I have embraced my surfer roots and rock a mountain man beard and long hair? I could give a shit what other people think. 🙂
Our large conference room many times remains empty as we choose to utilize the many couches and comfortable sofas spread throughout the office for team meetings.

PDCers make the most of the 9 to 5. You go to work 5 days a week, thats a huge chunk of your life and you need to make it the absolute best it can be. Break free of the classic work place shackles and start having some fun at work. At PDC we use daily humor, music, food and fun team events and an overall sense of not taking ourselves too seriously. Oh yeah, even though we broke a monitor recently we still don’t mind if someone wants to practice their golf short game in the office….although we have switched to nerf golf balls, a little bit of common sense can be cool too.

Make the most of your work place and challenge the status quo.
